17 - Was the Trinity Invented in the 4th Century?
Conley: The minister and I talked many times about many INC doctrines...
Minister: But the "Christ is God" doctrine was just an invention of the fourth century... No one believed it for hundreds of years after the apostles.
Conley: Now, hold on. I've already shown that the bible teaches the pre-existence and diety of Christ... But what you say about the early church just isn't true. I've studied some church history, and even those who came immediately after the apostles believed that Christ is God. Not long after the death of the Apostle John, two of his Christian students referred to Jesus as "Our God Jesus Christ". Another Christian wrote about the biblical doctrine of the trinity in 216 A.D.

Minister: Well, that doesn't surprise me. 1 Timothy 4:1 said that everyone would leave the faith after the time of the apostles.
Conley: That verse... doesn't say that. It only says that some would leave the faith.
Bible: 1 Timothy 4:1. Now the spirit expresly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons.

Hindi ko yan kinagugulat dahil sa 1 Timoteo 4:1 sinasabi na ang lahat ay magsisitalikod sa pananampalataya pagkatos ng panahon ng mga apostoles. 8. Hindi yan sinasabi ng bersikulong binanggit mo, isinasaad na ang karamihan ay titiwalag sa pananampalataya. 9. 1 Timoteo 4:1 “Nguni't hayag na sinasabi ng Espiritu, na sa mga huling panahon ang iba'y magsisitalikod sa pananampalataya, at mangakikinig sa mga espiritung mapanghikayat at sa mga aral ng mga demonio,”
